I'm pretty sure it was just to try and run damage control. At first, not all the facts were out in the open. So many people were so worked up over it, and so much misinformation and drama was being spread that they were just trying to contain the wildfire. Eventually, they realized that people just needed to talk it out, so they let the story be told. It was a huge clusterfuck no matter which way you look at it. --Whisper 23:16, 16 November 2007 (EST)
